Our Story

From a place to a living community

Mystic Smiles began with a desire to bring together some of the things we value most: inner connection, nature, creativity and community.

Over the years, the space has hosted meditation retreats, meditation camps, artist residencies and gatherings with people from different parts of the world. We have also organised meetings and exchanges with local women, farmers, artists and other members of surrounding communities.

These experiences have taught us something simple: real connection happens when people meet as equals.

A retreat can become a conversation.
A conversation can become an idea.
An artist can inspire a child.
A traditional skill can find a new audience.
A visitor can discover another way of seeing the world.
And a small meeting can sometimes become the beginning of something meaningful.

We have welcomed artists and creative people into the desert environment, offering space for creativity, reflection and cultural exchange.

We have brought together local women, farmers, artists and other members of the community to listen, exchange ideas and explore possibilities together.

Cultural Exchange

We create opportunities for visitors and local people to meet beyond conventional tourism, allowing stories, skills, food, music and knowledge to be shared naturally.

Children & Education

Creating opportunities to learn

We support educational and creative opportunities for children in desert communities. The intention is not only to support access to education, but also to encourage curiosity, creativity, confidence and the freedom to imagine a wider future. Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and discover their own possibilities.

Desert Women & Handicrafts

Supporting skills. Creating independence.

Across Rajasthan, generations of women have carried traditional knowledge through embroidery, textiles, craft and other forms of creative work. Mystic Smiles aims to support women who create traditional handicrafts by helping create opportunities for their skills to be recognised, shared and valued. Supporting their work can also help create opportunities for economic independence, while keeping local traditions connected to the next generation. We believe the most meaningful support is one that strengthens a person’s own ability, creativity and choice.

Local Music & Artists

Keeping creativity alive

Music is part of the soul of Rajasthan. Mystic Smiles supports local musicians, folk artists and other creative people by creating opportunities to perform, share their work and earn through their art. We want visitors to experience Rajasthan not simply as spectators, but through genuine human encounters with the people who carry its creative traditions. When an artist is valued, their art has a future.

Where appropriate, creative activities can also create opportunities for interaction with local people, including children and artisans. Art becomes another language through which people can meet.
