About Mystic Jaisalmer

"What you seek
is seeking you."

Rumi

Camel safari in the Thar Desert near Jaisalmer

Mystic Jaisalmer began with a man who simply could not let travellers leave without truly meeting the desert. What started as one guide sharing his home became, over eighteen years, a family-run company known across the world, but the heart of it never changed.

We are not a tour company. We are hosts. Every traveller who arrives is received as a guest in our home, not as a customer. Every camel safari, every night beneath the stars, every folk song around the campfire exists for one reason: that you leave with something quietly changed inside you.

We take you to the non-touristic dunes, where the silence is real and the sky holds more stars than you knew existed. We craft each journey by hand, because we believe that travel, at its deepest, is not about going somewhere. It is about coming back to yourself.

Rumi

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing
and rightdoing, there is a field.
I'll meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.

✦ Meet Ashraf Mystic ✦

The soul behind
Mystic Jaisalmer

Ashraf was born and raised in the Golden City. The desert was never a place he visited — it was the world he awoke to each morning, the silence that shaped him, the sky that taught him stillness.

Years before Mystic Jaisalmer existed, he was a guide who took travellers into the dunes simply because he could not bear to see them leave without truly experiencing the desert. What began as an act of sharing became, over time, a calling.

He founded Mystic Jaisalmer with one belief: that hospitality is a form of prayer. Every guest is received not as a customer, but as a traveller who has been guided here for a reason. Every camel safari, every fire-lit evening, every dawn over the Thar is an extension of that welcome.

Those who travel with Ashraf often speak of his quiet warmth, the way he listens before he speaks, the way he makes the vast desert feel like home. He remains, after all these years, a man who belongs to the sand and the stars, and who offers them freely to whoever comes.

"The desert does not need to be understood. It only asks that you sit with it."
